➤    Family History of Genetic and Metabolic Disorders
➤    Birth Hypoxia.
➤    Low Birth Weight (Lbw)
➤    Very Low Birth Weight (Vlbw)
➤    Premature
➤    Hyperbilirumia
➤    Inter Uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR)
➤    Neurological problems – HIE, Periventicular leukomalacia etc
➤    Epilepsy and Infantile spasms
➤    Birth Infections- Rubella, CMV
➤    Brain infection

Our Services

Early Intervention

Early Intervention comprises of multidisciplinary services provided to children from birth to 5 years of age to promote child health and wellbeing, to enhance emerging competencies, minimize developmental delays, remediate existing or emerging disabilities, prevent functional deterioration, and promote adaptive parenting and overall family functioning.

Early intervention services are concerned with all the basic & brand new skills of babies develops during critical early years of life:

Physical - (Reaching, Rolling, Crawling, And Walking)
Cognitive - (Thinking, Learning, Solving Problems)

➤    Brain develops most rapidly during the first three years of life, providing a brief window of opportunity to detect Developmental delays in children and address them before they become barriers to healthy development.

Developmental Milestones

Developmental milestones are the skills that children learn as they grow or develop. Children normally reach these milestones at predictable ages, give or take a few weeks. It is very important to understand that development in all areas is dependent on each other; child learns and develops through early experiences of life.

➤    Young children learn and develop differently. One baby may walk earlier than another, while another baby might talk first. Often, these differences will even out. But, some at risk children will need extra help
➤    Many at times babies are born with physical and neurological problems, leading to delayed development, childhood disabilities and lifelong handicap who requires to early intervention services.

Child Development

Developmental Screening

Developmental Screening is an essential part of child development care programme. Screening provide a quick and simple way to monitor development of At- Risk infants, High Risk and IUGR Babies followed by detailed developmental assessment.

➤    Earlier a developmental delay or disabilities are detected, better the prognosis of child.
➤    Physical, Cognitive, Communication, Social, Emotional & Sensory development is monitored: a child is weighed and measured, growth is charted. Screening provide crucial opportunities to screen for developmental disorders, to monitor and chart a child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

➤    Neurological problems – HIE, Periventicular leukomalacia etc
➤    Epilepsy and Infantile spasms
➤    Birth Infections- Rubella, CMV

How We Treat

OUR PROGRAMME INCLUDES:

Ortho Rehab is the major component of Physiotherapy anywhere. Here at NMHC apart from Conventional Physiotherapy which includes pain relief, range of motion exercises & strengthening, we use different techniques of Manual Therapy used internationally like Mulligan Mobilization, Maitland Mobilization, and Kalten borne for different joint & soft tissue pathologies.

Also newest & rarely used techniques like Muscle energy techniques, Myofascial Release techniques, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation techniques, neural tissue Mobilization are used for muscle & soft tissue pathologies.

Orthopedic Rehabilitation at NMHC has new & most important additives like exercises for developing Muscular Endurance, Motor control exercises thus bringing the neurological component in Ortho Rehabilitation.

It involves the whole person, not only his sensory-motor problems but also problems of development, perceptual-cognitive impairment, emotional, social and functional problems of the daily life as well.

“Handling is graded input provided at key points of control on the child’s body…. and results in active control or movement”

SENSORY INTEGRATION:

➤    Sensory integration refers to “The neural process Through which the brain receives, registers, and organizes sensory input for use in generating the body’s adaptive responses to the surrounding environment. (A.JEAN AYRES (1972)
➤    SI theory emphasizes that tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular systems contribute to the development of muscle tone, automatic reactions, and emotional well being. Organization of different sensory information to produce a proper response.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Focuses on children who are having difficulty developing fine-motor skills, visual-motor skills, perceptual skills, self-care skills, play skills or are having difficulty coping within their environment.
